Fun Life Update

So I hinted at a life update that would be keeping me in Macon for a while - and here it is!

You're looking at the soon-to-be owner of historic Macon home! I've been in the market for a house for quite some time, and my partner can attest to how often I showed him new listings in the area. Most never struck his fancy, and since many would require his financial assistance, I wanted to make sure he loved the place just as much as I did!

Fast forward through hundreds of Zillow listings, an attempt at purchasing a commercial building (good lord never again), and suddenly I spotted a post on our local neighborhood Facebook page - someone was trying to sell their house! I was thrilled, and not just because I absolutely love looking at houses - but the property is tucked away on a quite street downtown, right next to a park, and within the price range that would allow me to purchase it on my own.

So I take this house number 13576 to Alex for his opinion (not the true count, but Alex sure feels like he's looked that many!) and his response is "I kinda like that one"!!! Heck yes!!

Now you're thinking, Liz that doesn't sound very promising, he said "kinda"... Well, considering every other property has been "oh", "eh, it's okay", "oh god it's so old", or "that's a terrible bathroom" - the response of "I kinda like it" was absolutely game changing! Not only that, this one was in my price range, meaning I wasn't relying on him to help obtain a loan. So I jumped at the place!

And boy am I excited to get settled - the home was built right around 1900, the owners think closer to 1890, but the tax assessors claim 1900 on the dot. It's a two story bungalow, with three bedrooms and three full baths, my favorite of which is the downstairs bathroom:

Just look at that clawfoot tub!

There's also a full sitting room, dining room, and living room all on the first floor - there's so much space that I have no clue what to do with it at the moment.

Now fast forward again two months, and we're just waiting to close. I've begun the dreaded process of packing my many belongings, and scheduling various repairs (gotta love old houses). We'll be moving in at the end of March if all goes smoothly, and I'll be capturing the many adventures of being a historic home owner on this blog! Wish us luck!
